1. UN SDG videos, literacy and global citizenship
We have created 45 3-6 minute videos about the UNSDG’s at A1, A2, and B1 language levels of CEFR. These videos are collectively designed to promote the development of Ukrainian language in heritage or diaspora settings and global citizenship. We are completing a program with teachers and students to familiarize them with these resources. The students will take a pre- and post- program survey about their understandings of global citizenship. In between, they will watch one to two videos per week and complete classroom activities. This project will entail: 1. Analyzing the pre-and post surveys; 2. collecting data on the activities conducted and analyzing the effectiveness: 3. Analyzing the student feedback about the language level of the resources; 4. analyzing curriculum documents for alignment; 5.interviewing teachers, students, parents and community members about understandings of UNSDGs and global citizenship and their local relevance; 6. creating learning resources at different reading levels as guidelines for action; 7.Composing additional resources to fill in the gaps revealed in the analysis; 8. assembling a user guide for parents, teachers, and community leaders in English, Ukrainian and other language languages. NOTE: Research across education, international studies, and civic engagement generally defines global citizenship as a mindset and practice in which individuals see themselves as members of a single human community and take social, political, environmental, and economic action for the global common good.
