1. Les alliés face au désengagement militaire des États-Unis
The United States has broken the bond of trust between allies. The Trump administration is questioning the territorial integrity of its allies, casting doubt on the US commitment to defend its allies in the event of external aggression, challenging multilateralism, and threatening to conclude pacts with revisionist states (Russia, China) to the detriment of its allies' security. In this context, this project aims to analyze the nature and extent of the transfer of the defense burden from the United States to its allies. To this end, the project intends to conduct comparative analyses of the adaptation of Western allies' defense policies. Three dimensions will be particularly targeted: 1) the interconnection of theaters of operations (Euro-Atlantic, Indo-Pacific, and North American) and the strategic priorities of allies; 2) the transformation of alliance structures (NATO, AUKUS, etc.) in order to guard against US disengagement; and 3) the ongoing rearmament of allies and the adaptation of their military procurement policies in order to reduce the risk of overdependence on the US defense industry.
